Madame Alexander The Arts: Tiny Dancer Ballerina

January 17, 2012

The classical art of ballet has captivated audiences for hundreds of years. Through the fluid movements and calculated steps exquisite stores come to life through dance!  Many ballerinas have been created by Madame Alexander but one Tiny Dancer stands out among the crowd.

Dancing into Madame’s Dollhouse Tiny Dancer is a beautiful Wendy doll that exudes beauty of ballet! Originating in the 15th century as an interpretation of fencing, Ballet was a dance preformed by dancers in the Italian royal courts. Ballet also developed in the countries of France and Russia into the art that we know it as today. Ballet has taken its classic roots and transformed into three different types. Classical ballet is the technique that holds closest to its original movements and traditional technique. Neoclassical Ballet typically features a higher tempo and brings modern elements to the classic forms. Contemporary Ballet is the most modern form of ballet and brings modern dance to the classic movements of Classic ballet.

Tiny Dancer is a sweet 8 inch bent-knee Wendy doll who charms as she dances. Her bright blonde hair is slicked back into a pair of pig tail buns. Each bun sits midway on her head and is tied with a flower in each. Her rosy cheeks and lips stand out on the stage as she performs as do her bright and bold eyes. Pink is Tiny Dancer‘s color of choice and her feminine tutu is bright and beautiful beyond compare! Tulle begins her outfit wrapping around her shoulders in a sweet, off-shoulder, design. Gold accents the tulle as it wraps around her shoulders with the lightest of touches. Her pink brocade tutu features light polka-dots that dance along the bodice and the skirt. At her waist sits a pink ribbon which ties along the back. The skirt of her tutu is created out of the same brocade material and the gold trim from above creates a geometric design as it accents the hem and skirt. Pink tulle peeks out from under the skirt in sweet fashion and tights and ballet slippers finish her look.

Ready to dance her way into your collection, Tiny Dancer is sweet as can be with a classical, yet modern, style beyond compare!

Little Women, written by Louisa May Alcott, is the story of four sisters and their lives growing up in 19th century Concord Massachusetts. Loosely based on the author’s own experiences the story follows the March sisters as they experience life. Taking the spirit of this lovely novel and bringing a lovely creative touch to it, Madame Alexander has created three of the March sisters in lovely winter outfits!

Jo, the second oldest of the sisters may be a little hot headed and a little tomboyish but she looks lovely dressed for a day of winter fun. This lovely 8 inch  bent knee Wendy wears a  red themed outfit that is a lovely winter creation. A burgundy winter coat shines and keeps Jo warm on the ice! Her skirt is a lovely criss-cross print with salmon, yellow, red and ivory on a brown taffeta background.

The oldest sister, Meg skates onto the ice in a green themed outfit. Her embellished green coat has a nipped waist and fancy buttons up the front. She wears a hat over her auburn hair keeping it tied back and keeping her warm on this cold winter day. Her skirt is a lovely creation in green taffeta with green accent ribbons that create a fun and geometric pattern as she skates!

Beth, the even tempered and kind sister is very close to Jo and wears a lovely winter blue outfit that is sweet and delicate. Her light blue coat features a fanciful cut and lovely embroidery along the edges. Her skirt is simpler than her sisters’ and is created out of dark sapphire blue taffeta. Her head is kept warm with a matching hat that wraps around her ears and a white fur muff keeps her hands warm.

All three sisters wear lovely petticoats that keep their legs warm on the chilly ice as well as beautiful brown ice skates, mittens and stockings! Wouldn’t want these ladies getting chilly! Bringing a lovely memory of time gone past, the Little Women sisters are a lovely trio that bring the spirit of their classic novel and 19th century charm to Madame’s Dollhouse!
